This is an older post that we haven't gotten round to posting before now!
The last big project inside the house is the bathroom and, mid-summer, once the kitchen had been completed, we set about this next, and last, big project. As with the kitchen, it's something specialised and we wanted to find someone local who would coordinate all of the trades - plumbing, electrical, plaster, tiling and bathroom fitting. After a trawl of google, we did find a local guy who got good reviews and specialised in wetrooms. George and his partner Krys (who did get her sleeves rolled up to help every day), from GSA Tiling came round a couple of times to discuss our ideas and we decided to go with them. They said they could start work in about 3 weeks time!
When we had thought about knocking the utility and cloakroom through into one we had put a lot of time into a design and much of it we could recycle for the main bathroom. We had tried to stick with the Japanese inspired design, keeping it simple and clean.
Before you knew it we had some pebble tiles on order and quite a lot of the furniture. George supplied the rest. From start to finish - just under 2 weeks - quite a lot of work.
The end results are pretty spectacular - underfloor heating below the pebbled tiles, simplistic skandi tile on the walls, clear glass panels round a seamless shower and black fixtures and fittings, including a Triton shower with a rain head - just enough, not too much. Below is a video of the progress and some before and after photos.
We have kept some original features such as the wooden window surround and the airing cupboard door. We've used a floating cabinet with drawers in, which is all the rage right now, and an illuminated mirror to compliment the recessed LED strips in the ceiling to keep the clean lines. We've gone for an electric ladder radiator so that we can still dry the towels in the summer when the heating was off. The underfloor heating kicked in during the night this week and it was a delight underfoot! We are really happy with the results.

Wow! Beautifully designed and executed. And that floor... Love It!
