This is an old post that we haven't gotten round to posting before now!
It has to be said that John likes old bits of cast iron. In Leamington Spa there was a sensible amount of old railway signs nestled amongst the garden. He had noticed that along the single track road winding through the glen, in many of the passing places, were some marker poles, many looking like they would simply disappear into the undergrowth without some TLC. They would either not get replaced, or get replaced with some modern plastic markers.
Cue a snatch bag with 2 cans of Hammerite, a wire brush, a 1 inch paint brush and some masking tape. The only things that took any notice so far were the midges and a few calves.
Quite theraputic really, to pop out in the early evening and revive these markers one by one. We think, at the last count, John had completed five, with five more to go. They look great and a bit of local character will remain there for a good while longer.
That’s my boy! A lad after my own heart. Well done. 👏👏👏
