Making it Feel Like Home

At this point in time (July 2023), we haven't hired a removal van to move our stuff from Leamington to Scotland, so there's a balance of buying new (because it's a different house with a different style) but risking ending up with too much stuff when we sell Leamington, and making do without until we transport our existing items. So far it's working out ok and the house becomes a little more homely every time we make a trip. The day before we arrived in May, for example, we had a new dining table and bench delivered. Sticking with the Japanese-y style, we have gone minimal and wood, for a natural feel.

Making it feel like home this time involved a number of things:

The wardrobes are great but as you can see, no covering on the floor so we brought with us a some carpet we'd got as an end of roll, together with gripper strips and underlay to get the job done x4 and have some left over for something else like the utility room or guest cloakroom.

We'd also bought a couple of relaxed contemporary chairs from IKEA that would make nice features in the bedrooms - with having enormous built in wardrobes the rooms risk looking empty as there is no need for the usual furniture

We've mentioned the minimalist fireplace before and we feel this is a keeper, now we're keeping that area of the living room pretty minimal but more homely with some of our more oriental style knick knacks and some appropriate books on Japan and asian design.
